Training and Further Education of Driving Instructors
Employees of FIZ-MTS were involved in writing a report on the optimisation of the training of driving instructors. Taking into account current scientific findings a competence-based concept for a modularised training was created. Moreover, the professional, psychological and traffic pedagogical competences of driving instructors were defined, curricular training contents assigned and both scientifically and practically justified. Finally, proposals for adapting the prerequisites for admission to the driving instructor profession were elaborated. The report provides the central basis for the reformed driving instructor law, which entered into force in January 2018.
In addition, FIZ-MTS, in collaboration with the Saarland University and on behalf of the German Federal Highway Research Institute, realised the scientific monitoring of the reformed driving instructor law. In order to assess the feasibility of the driving instructors training concepts FIZ-MTS accompanied the training in a few trainings centres and training schools. As a result, proposals for optimising the training in terms of content and methodology and recommendations for designing reference training units were submitted.
